Jerry Mitchell – Director

Jerry MitchellAfter graduating Webster University, Jerry Mitchell started his career as a Broadway dancer appearing in The Will Rogers Follies, Brigadoon and On Your Toes. Mitchell began his choreography career in 1990 with the Broadway premier of Jekyll & Hyde. Nine years later Mitchell had risen through the ranks to become sole choreographer for the 1999 revival of You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown and later The Full Monty. Mitchell both directed and Choreographed the hot Broadway musical, Legally Blonde (2007) and served as a mentor on the American hit reality TV show, Step It Up and Dance. For his work with Kinky Boots Mitchell won the 2013 Tony Award for Best Choreography and was also nominated for Tony for Best Direction of a Musical.

Cyndi Lauper – Music and Lyrics

Cyndi LauperCyndi Lauper began her career as an American singer songwriter, beginning her performing career in the late 70’s in band, Blue Angel, before launching her solo career in the 80’s. Lauper is well known for her hit records “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun,” “Time After Time,” and “True Colour.” Lauper is also known as an actress and appeared in the film Life with Mikey in 1993 and won an Emmy Award for her role in American sitcom, Mad About You. Lauper continues to perform as a musician and her involvement in Kinky Boots was her first foray into writing for musical theatre. Lauper won the 2013 Tony Award for Best Original Score for her work on Kinky Boots

Harvey Fierstein – Book

Harvey FiersteinHarvey Fierstein is both an actor and playwright, having won Tony Awards in each discipline. Fierstein gaines early success with Torch Song Trilogy, which he both wrote and starred in earning him a place among the Broadway elite. Fierstein’s next big project was La Cage aux Folles, for which he wrote the book. Fierstein has continued to write the book for highly successful musicals such as A Catered Affair and Newsies. Fierstein has acted in many Broadway shows as well as working on screen in TV shows such s Miami Vice, Murder She Wrote, The Goodwife and even made a cameo appearance in Smash. He has also played roles in Hollywood blockbuster movies such as Mrs Doubtfire and Independence Day. Fierstein added to his collection of Tony Awards following his work with Kinky Boots, winning the 2013 award for Best New Musical.

Stark Sands – Charlie Price

Stark SandsSark Sands made his name in the American TV series Six Feet Under, before going on to appear in films, such as Shall We Dance (2004) with Richard Gere and Jennifer Lopez. Sands then went on to forge a successful stage care, winning the 2007 Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Play for his role in Journey’s End. Sands has also appeared in musicals such as Bonnie & Clyde and American Idiot. He also appeared with Anne Hathaway in Shakespeare in the Park’s production of Twelfth Night.

Billy Porter – Lola / Simon

Billy PorterBilly Porter is an actor and singer who built his career on Broadway after graduating from the Pittsburgh Creative and Performing Arts School. Billy first appeared as Teen Angel in te 1994 revival of Grease! As well as taking on roles in Ghetto Superstar (The Man That I Am), Jesus Christ Super Star, Dreamgirls and Angels in America. Porter joined the original cast of Kinky Boots as Lola and won both the Tony and Drama Desk Awards for Best Actor in a Musical. Porter also has also released two albums with A&M records.

Annaleigh Ashford – Lauren

Annaleigh AshfordAnnaleigh Ashford (born Swanson) began her stage career at the tender age of nine when she starred in Ruthless at Theatre on Broadway. Her first adult big break was understudying the role of Glinda in the first US National Tour of Wicked, later playing the role on Broadway. Ashford also originated the role of Margot in the Broadway premier of Legally Blonde: The Musical.

Other original Broadway cast members included Celina Caravajal, Stephen Berger, Eugene Barry Hill, Daniel Sherman, Marcus Neville, Tory Ross, Andy Kelso, Jennifer Perry, John Jeffrey Martin, Adinah Alexander, Sebastian Hedges Thomas and Marquise Neal.

    Saw the show this afternoon sadly had restricted view so must go back and see again .
    Can I have a night out with Lola Matt played an amazing part
    Have seen the film about 10 times have it saved on planner feeling low just watch the film always gets you up dancing
