Kinky Boots the Musical is now running at London’s Adelphi Theatre!

Based on the 2005 British film of the same name, Kinky Boots the Musical tells the same story of a down-on-its-luck Northampton shoe factory. Kinky Boots follows Charlie Price, a wannabe London high-flyer who, to his dismay, inherits his late father’s beloved business and feels he needs to salvage the company. With the help of a flamboyant drag queen, Charlie aims to revolutionise the face of transgender footwear! (Read the full story on my Synopsis and Songs page!)

Kinky Boots features music and lyrics by pop superstar Cyndi Lauper, with a book by Harvey Fierstein and direction and choreography by Jerry Mitchell (Hairspray, Gypsy). Kinky Boots originally opened on Broadway, marking Lauper’s debut as a Musical Theatre songwriter.

Marching onto Broadway in 2013, Kinky Boots won an outstanding six Tony Awards, including the prestigious award for Best New Musical. In 2016, the musical won three Olivier Awards, also including Best New Musical. To find out more about the show’s awards, visit the awards page!

Kinky Boots premiered pre-Broadway at the Bank of America Theatre in Chicago on October 2nd 2012. After a bit of tweaking, the show made its official Broadway transfer and opened at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre on the 4th April 2013. Shortly after, the musical confirmed a London transfer and opened on September 15th 2015.

OMG is this for real, I saw kinky boots on Broadway in Dec, and totally loved it. I.was born in Northamptonshire to a Shoe designer who worked for a company who “went under” So this film always meant a lot to my Dad but to see it on stage was Unreal, the guy in NYC who played Lola was truly outstanding and for it to come to the west end with be a mass treat and will deffo drag me from Yorkshire time and again to see it, if…… The person cast as Lola is as good as the other 2 (film and live) actors. I simply cannot wait and want tickets….like yesterday x

The film was fantastic, very English and slightly daring.

Fantastic, uplifting, must be the best stage musical I have seen!!!

Saw Kinky Boots for second time last night – there was an understudy playing Lola – his fragility as Simon and mesmerising performance as Lola was by no means a disappointment. A star performance and I want to know his name.

Saw Kinky Boots on 27 April and the understudy was playing Lola. Absolutely amazing voice and performance. I didn’t even realise until today when I was looking for more of what they’d done and realised it wasn’t the headline act. WHO IS THIS GUY? Young woman playing Lauren was also great to watch – very funny. Great cast all round.

  19. Annabel

Callum Francis was amazing as Lola tonight – mesmerising stage presence, boundless energy and incredibly sexy. If he is the understudy – wow is all I can say!
Fab performance, best musical I have seen for ages in London.
